Ms. Shamala Rao has been a very active member in the Indian Montessori Centre for the past few decades. Her education primarily is a M.A. in Sociology and AMI Diploma (Primary) from Association Montessori Internationale, Amsterdam, Holland. Further, her engagement with the Montessori method of education led her to obtain the Primary (Elementary) Training, Diploma Indian Montessori Centre.  

She has been the Director General –Indian Montessori Centre and Director – IMTC from 2006.

 She has also served as Directress, Hymamshu Jyothi Kala Peetha from 1989-97.

Her role extends to be Course Assistant at the Indian Montessori Training course from 1997 onwards.

She has also been very instrumental in organizing many national and international conferences/seminars in the last decade.

By being Member of the Editorial Board of the Periodical ‘Voice of IMC’ now “Follow the child”, working with organizations to spread the awareness about Dr. Montessori’s lif and works, and by training a number of students, she has been effectively carrying out her responsibilities towards the propagation of the pedagogy with right earnestness.
