Dear Friends,
Indian Montessori Centre -IMC (TN Chapter) and Nurture - Montessori house of children are delighted to offer a program on Development psychology (children aged 0-6)
Development psychology will be explored from the following perspective:
1. Is learning natural to children or do children need to be cajoled or coerced, bribed or rewarded in order to make them learn
2. What do we understand when we talk about development with regard to children and what bearing does in have to learning and education?
3. What do we understand by the word PLAY and how does it relate to children.
4. What is creativity – and how can we help our children be creative.
5. Freedom and responsibility – how much of the former should we give children and how much of the later may we expect from the children.
6. How can we make our children more disciplined from within without external action or emphasis
7. What do we understand as obedience and how do we receive this from children.
8. Do children who are respected grow to be very different from children who are not?
9. Is there any element of emotional or physical unintentional abuse in our dealing with children? Is it possible to be completely non-authoritative in our dealing with children?
10. How do we create a home environment that is best suited for the growth and development of our children?
Who is it for?
Parents, Teachers, Grandparents, NGO associates, Medical Practioners, Policy makers in education field and anyone who is interested in the development of the child.
The aim of this program is to reach out to all the people especially parents and teachers in the society who are with children and are directly or indirectly responsible or in many ways facilitate the development of the child.

Dated 26th November 2013

Dear Sir/madam,

SUB: Invitation to the one day workshop by NIAS at IMCK,
JP NAGAR,Bangalore.

We take great pleasure to invite you to the one- day workshop by the National Institute of Advanced studies (NIAS) which is scheduled to be held on Saturday, 4th January 2014.
After the two day work shop held in July 2013 by NIAS-IMC, nominations of gifted children have been collected from Montessori Houses of Children and have been handed over to NIAS for review. They are happy with the work that has been invested in the observation of the children and the presentation of that data.

The purpose of this workshop is for them to come up with some parameters which will help the adults working with the children to identify the special areas of talent in the children and in turn nurture it in them from an early age.

You as an adult working with the child can contribute to the progress of the child by helping the research team identify the right criterion that have to be observed so that it helps to foster the talents of the gifted children and provide them with the necessary resources.

Every Saturday Meeting: -
The concept of second Saturday meetings were mooted a few years ago with the intention of getting the working Montessorians together for interaction and reinforcement. Discussion by experts and demonstrations are the essence of these meetings. Last year meetings were arranged in different parts of the city and veteran Montessorians talked on several aspects of Montessori philosophy and practice. The list includes Mrs. Radha Nagaraj Geetha Nityananda and Mrs.Meenakshi Sivaramakrishnan.

The year 2010 -2011 sees the meetings conducted in various schools that have done yeoman services in this field. The topics chosen are interesting and envelop other concepts that are not included in the training program. The intention being that the Montessori workers can have a wider perspective of the method and its execution.

Making materials for Houses of children:-
Montessori House of children are always in need of materials especially in the area of Language and Exercises of practical life. Many working Montessorians find it difficult to get authentic IMC approved materials. Those who are familiar with the Montessori Method would know that any material cannot be called Montessori materials. Specifications, details, adaptation to the age and stage of development in the child are criteria that are very essential.

Under the umbrella of the IMC Karnataka, montessori materials are being made and you may take advantage of this facility. For details please contact Ananth at 93412 33495.

IMC Karnataka starts new House of children in 2010: -
As a mark of homage to the first house of children started in Rome in 1907 IMC Karnataka started a Montessori House of children for economically challenged children.

Indeed there was a glorious three day Congress to commemorate the event. A sustained program called Madhurya was the outcome. In the past three years Madhurya has helped children and the results were remarkable. This has proven that the montessori method is not only for the "well to do".

IMC Karnataka is taking strength from this successful enterprise and has started a second unit called Abhyas.
